Remember:

  • Most guests aren’t browsers, they are there to buy – so start selling.
  • LOTS of guests are unsure of what to order when they come to the bar – so start recommending.
  • Make suggestions based on time of day, week or year – and don’t forget how weather affects what guests drink.
  • Read your guest: different people will buy different things.
  • Be positive and upbeat when selling and describe what you are selling to make it attractive – “How about a cool, refreshing ‘Coca-Cola’ or a warming, spicy Shiraz?”.
  • Many people will pay slightly more for a bottle rather than Postmix so offer it every time.
